In classrooms across the world, children are told the word egg begins with a long 'E' or a short 'E'—but it doesn’t. It begins with the /ɛ/ sound, as in bed or elephant. For us, that’s a moment of revelation.

It’s the kind of moment that shakes foundations.

🕊️ This week, as the world marked the passing of Pope Francis, a symbolic veil lifted. For over 1700 years, the sounds of language—filtered through Latin and the rigid structures of Church and empire—were twisted, hidden, and reshaped. What began as pure sound evolved under systems of power.
